Pennsylvania’s One Book, Every Young Child 2015 selection is Number One Sam. Written and illustrated by Greg Pizzoli, this picture book is for children ages 3 to 6.

Published in 2014 by Disney • Hyperion Books, this story is about a competitive race-car driving dog who learns that some things are more important than being number one.

This is the tenth year for this valuable program that highlights the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers. In its inaugural year, the One Book, Every Young Child program won the coveted, national John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award.
