The annual book sale for the Myerstown Community Library promises to be better than ever!
The sale, scheduled Friday evening and Saturday morning on Sept. 13th and Sept. 14th, will be held in the Myerstown Borough Building, 101 S. Railroad St., Myerstown. The borough building was once the high school and in more recent memory, an ELCO School District elementary school.
On Friday night, at the “early bird bookworm special,” a $5.00 entry fee will be charged. This allows attendees the first chance to survey all the books before most of the public attends on Saturday morning. Hours for the sale are Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday morning from 8 am to noon, rain or shine. For the final hour on Saturday, from 11am to noon, take advantage of the $5.00 bag sale. Fill a bag of books (bags are provided) for only $5.00, while supplies last.
A variety of books will be on sale, largely fiction and non-fiction books in hardcover and paperback, with popular authors like Nora Roberts, Danielle Steel, and James Patterson. Categories of books include cookbooks, crafting and hobbies, health and wellness, sports, philosophy, and history, among others.
Additionally, book items will be on sale including totes, stickers, and hats with the Myerstown Community Library logo. There will also be a bake sale of homemade goodies and sweet treats!
Library Director Sarah Bair shares, “The annual book sale is a great way for the library to provide literacy resources for the community at an affordable price. Come out and support the library, while feeding your book-buying cravings without breaking the bank!”
This year stop by on Saturday during sale hours for the Munchiez Food Truck! Munchiez is a local food truck out of Reading with awesome eats including loaded fries, breakfast wraps, chicken tenders, and so much more. Check out their menu on their official Facebook page – Munchiezpa.
All proceeds from the sale will benefit the library, which provides free access to books and magazines, computer and Wi-Fi services, research materials, and adult and children’s activities for the community in the Myerstown/ELCO area. Special thanks to the Myerstown Borough for allowing the library to host this sale at the borough building. Bair states, “We are very grateful for the support of our entire community, and appreciate our local municipalities!”
If you would like to volunteer to help with the book sale, please contact the library at 717-866-2800. Each volunteer will receive a voucher for $5.00 at the book sale for use on Friday or Saturday. Volunteers are needed to help set up, tear down, and manage the sale.
Thank you for your support and see you at the sale!
